Way back in 2008 I was looking for a change. I was working as a debt collector for the family business and also in my own business in remedial massage. I had many years banking experience and had decided it may be time to go back into the banking arena.
Working for a number of major banks in the past had given me a bit of a perspective on big banks, their logic and push for sales. Family connections brought me into contact with a finance broker and he loved his work. This got me thinking that this would be a great alternative, still in the banking and finance world but with the freedom to consider many options including second tier lenders.
I studied my Certificate IV in Finance/Mortgage Broking Management.
This lead to my application for the role of Mortgage Services Assistant to Andrew Larcombe of Morbanx Pty Ltd.
The opportunity to work with Andrew allowed me to learn broking from the ground up. Andrew was willing to teach all he knew, which he proceeded doing over the next 6 ½ years.
Around 4 years ago, I decided that I had enough knowledge and support to take the next step and become a fully qualified broker, Andrew was very encouraging. During this period it became obvious that to give it a good go I would need to do broking full time.
Andrew supported my decision and we came to an agreement that I would continue working alongside him as a broker under the Morbanx banner.
We then set about defining the role and finding a suitable replacement. We vetted job applications together and I performed the first round interviews with Andrew doing the second round. A number of capable people applied, Mary was the stand out.
Welcome to Mary, I have every confidence she will bring some fresh ideas and dedication to the role.
I look forward to this new chapter in the broking capacity, working alongside Andrew and Morbanx Pty Ltd.
